Transgender Friendly Counselor

Regina Lo-Barrington
Counselor at Adler Family Centre

"I am a Registered Counselor and earned master’s degrees in counseling (Australia) and communications (US). I am fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. As a counselor, mentor, career and relationship coach, I treat adolescents and adults with difficulties in the following areas:

•    Depression, anxiety, stress and low self-esteem
•    Inter cultural dynamics
•    Marriage, family, dating and other relationships
•    Sexual/Gender minorities
•    Career Paths
•    Managerial skills

My counseling skills were not just developed through formal training. Based on my many years of corporate and volunteer experience, I have great expertise in working with individuals from highly diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.  I maintain a deep appreciation of challenges life presents to us on daily basis as well as those struggles we have to deal with on a personal level. Through my volunteer work, I also gained further understanding of the problems of those faced with disabilities and discriminations from society and the effects on their personal development.

I was born in Hong Kong, educated in the US and married a European. These experiences have been invaluable in developing my multicultural insights, allowing me to quickly understand and successfully treat clients from all backgrounds."
